30 09 2008

It is less than a week after I return from Italy…slightly more than 3 months after coming to Glasgow…tonnes of things have happened…personally & nationally…& what is more ‘interesting’…Semester 7 is about to start…which also means, I’M IN MY FINAL YEAR!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…..

While I’m still in dilemma about whether to work in this coming semester, I am quite excited to meet my Scottish batchmates & getting involved in more student activities (hopefully)!!

Anyway, am currently quite delighted to learn that the IMU Pharmacy Student Society is finally set up!! & the first president is someone I know…ahaha…one whole semester of hard work…Thanks peeeppss…Malaysian pharmacy student world is getting more happening and will get more happening in coming one year (next Asia pharmacy student gathering – Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium, will be hosted by Malaysia…in USM specifically)…hopefully IMU pharmacy students will appreciate & benefit from the new society..

Cheers & good nite world!! :-D

£92 million jackpot – missed!

Fingers crossed - suit people who buy lottery. LOL. The UK National Lottery Symbol

Hmm…regretted I didnt try it out…last Friday’s UK Euromillion lottery jackpot was a whopping £92 million!!

Found out about this when i was at the Glasgow International Airport volunteering for the GISWP. Everytime I passed by WHSmith to the luggage area (I do that more than 20 times in a shift), the bright notice would catch my attention. & EVERYTIME I would slow down my steps there and started to think if i should buy…but yeah…as you can see..i didnt…my sanity overcame the impulse to buy…But now thinking back…i should have called my housemates and asked them to share…aarghhhhh…

Try google “£92 million jackpot” and you can see many people discussed this on the internet, for example, in here. What would you do if you win £92 million??

I wonder who won the jackpot last Friday. It wasnt publicised on any media obviously, to protect the safety of the winner.

A Busy Holiday

13 09 2008

3-week holiday seems too short. Been so busy since the first day. When I finally have time to chill today and upload pictures, realise that it is already time to pack for my Italy trip. Think further again, 2 days after i come back, first day of new semester starts…urghhhhhh….Apart from that, been shopping alot recently in preparation for the trip…Many friends have already started working, while I had just registered myself with an agent this morning…arghhhhh…

Anyway, participated in the Glasgow International Student Welcome Programme (GISWP) in the past few days. It was a joint effort by all universities and colleges in Glasgow to welcome international students. Mainly organised by Strathclyde, helped by volunteers from different universities in Glasgow. Volunteers were supposed to greet them, register them at airport, tell them about Glasgow city, and send them to their accomodation.

I stumbled upon this programme on the internet. Thought to publicise it in blog & facebook only to find out later that Jim Wilson has already forwarded a mail asking for volunteers. Some friends thought it was a paid work. Nope. It was purely voluntary. Tiring because have to stand / walk 7 hours to guide new students from the luggage area to our desk, after which we would chat with the students while waiting for the bus to fetch them. But FUN!!! because i could make new friends and it was interesting to see and talk to people from all over the world!!! I’ve met people from all continents in that few days, people from US, Canada, France, Czech, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia!! and guess what, i also met friends from IMU coming to study medicine in University of Glasgow. Haha…

Made my first Scottish friends here in GISWP. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Thanks to Ruth and Peter, my co-ordinators and fellow friends from all universities in Glasgow, Hannah, Ana, Sarah, Alice, Kay, Niddhin, Paul, Andy and Maureen. Doubt u guys will read this but you guys really made my experience worth it. Last but not least, of course, thank you Million for the 2-day company :)

If I have the energy, will go and help out some more after the trip. Highly recommend all juniors to join it next year! :-)

We are the HOT ones

13 09 2008

Yay!!! Finally, i am NOT alone anymore!! NM is now my new buddy!!

So how did he do it? It happened a week ago. The last PP3 paper had just over a day earlier…11.30pm…I felt a bit hungry…I stepped my feet into the kitchen, grabbed my Yazoo chocolate milk and walked back to my room. Just as i sat down, the familiar sound comes again…”ngiiioorrrr”…for a moment i panicked. The first thing that flashed through my mind….”OMG!! did i do anything in the kitchen just now?” Although i always appear calm and composed, i can be quite clumsy at times…believe it or not…but very fast i calmed down…”opening fridge doesnt trigger fire alarm”..

The firemen came pretty soon…& soon, we were told that it was a false alarm. The real cause? Someone did not close the bathroom door after a hot shower…& apparently the steam rushed out from the bathroom, hit the ceiling’s smoke detector…and “pooff”…there it goes…ehehe…& because of that, the whole block had to evacuate out and shivered in cold for about 20 minutes..

P

JBC students out in the cold. Sorry my hands were shaking :P

Later that night in msn we thought we should officially call ourselves “The HOT ones” & start recruiting members. If you think our name sounds cool and you want to be a member, there are only TWO conditions:

1st: You must stay in James Blyth Court

2nd: You must trigger the fire alarm

Can you do it? :-P

Summer…is over…

10 09 2008

Just as all of us were busy preparing for a string of class tests and exams…summer slowly crawls pass…sun used to set at 10pm and rise at 4am in the morning…but now it’s like almost 12hours night and 12hours day time now..weather is getting colder…can no longer walk out without jacket…about 16C everyday…when it rains, it could touch 10C…arghhh…Now i know why people here like summer so much…

Autumn…is here…already…
